Three lessons from home cooking
By the evening the light was soft and everything looked a little kinder. If you have a favourite version of this, I would love to hear about it someday. It reminded me how much I enjoy doing one thing at a time. I took the long way back, past the old houses near the water.
I still have a few pages left to read, so maybe more on this later. I keep a short list of things that made the day better, and this one made it.
Nothing dramatic happened, but I came home in a much better mood. There is a bakery on the corner that opens before sunrise, and I have become a regular. I did not plan much this time, and it turned out to be the best part.
I wrote a few lines in my notebook and then simply watched people pass by. The first attempt was a small disaster, the second one was surprisingly good.
It is funny how the smallest routines end up holding the whole week together. I am trying to write here more often, even if the posts are short. Most of the afternoon went by without me noticing. A friend recommended it years ago and I finally got around to it.
