Starting over with long walks
Sometimes the best plan is to leave the phone at home and walk. I still have a few pages left to read, so maybe more on this later. The weather changed three times before noon, which is normal around here. The recipe is simple, the trick is to be patient with it.
If you have a favourite version of this, I would love to hear about it someday. I wrote a few lines in my notebook and then simply watched people pass by. Most of the afternoon went by without me noticing. I keep a short list of things that made the day better, and this one made it.
Nothing dramatic happened, but I came home in a much better mood. There is a bakery on the corner that opens before sunrise, and I have become a regular. It is funny how the smallest routines end up holding the whole week together.
By the evening the light was soft and everything looked a little kinder. I did not plan much this time, and it turned out to be the best part. It reminded me how much I enjoy doing one thing at a time.
