Writing about books, food and slow weekends

Learning to write by hand

12 Aug 2025

If you have a favourite version of this, I would love to hear about it someday. The weather changed three times before noon, which is normal around here. I wrote a few lines in my notebook and then simply watched people pass by.

By the evening the light was soft and everything looked a little kinder. I still have a few pages left to read, so maybe more on this later. I did not plan much this time, and it turned out to be the best part.

It reminded me how much I enjoy doing one thing at a time. It is funny how the smallest routines end up holding the whole week together. There is a bakery on the corner that opens before sunrise, and I have become a regular.

The first attempt was a small disaster, the second one was surprisingly good. I am trying to write here more often, even if the posts are short. I took the long way back, past the old houses near the water. I keep a short list of things that made the day better, and this one made it.

Most of the afternoon went by without me noticing. Sometimes the best plan is to leave the phone at home and walk.
